Open Mics/Floorspots

I've decided to start playing at open mics. I'm going to keep a record in reverse order of where I go and what I do, here, mainly as a reference for myself.

Mon 22 Oct 07 - Floorspot @ Rose & Crown (MacLaren Wall gig), St
Albans. Played Broken, The Fling, both with Dave Morgan on drums. Somewhat noisy, warm appreciative
audience. Couldn't really hear myself. Positive feedback about The
Fling.

Thurs 18 Oct 07 - Bat Country @ The Hideaway, Tufnell Park, London. Played Broken, Save Me (Aimee Mann), The Fling. Busy, could have heard a pin drop, polite appreciative audience. Could hear myself really well. Good comments about Save Me and The Fling.

Tom Horn

Acoustic folk/pop artist Tom Horn and I used to play together in a musical collective called the Rock Rangers. Sometimes we sing backing vocals on each others' tracks. That's Tom you can hear on One Down and Four Up (2007). You can hear me singing backing vox on his track Dog Day (2007)
here: http://www.myspace.com/tomhornsongs. I love this song.

Pushing Leaves Towards the Sun

I'm working on a collaboration project with an aspiring author I met on MySpace in late 2006. Mark L Berry is in the final rewrite stages of his forthcoming novel Pushing Leaves Towards the Sun. In the novel, the protagonist, Lindy B
Huskador, is a songwriter and her lyrics are integral to her emotional
recovery after the death of her boyfriend. I've written and recorded the music for two of the songs, "One Down and Four Up" and "From a Long Way Away", which we plan to include as a CD single within the novel.

The project has been evolving over time and I am now in the process of writing the music for the remaining seven songs, which we plan to launch as the 'soundtrack to the novel'. New versions of the aforementioned two songs, and a drum solo, will also be included.

For more info about the novel: www.pushingleavestowardsthesun.com

For more info about the music: www.lindybhuskador.com/misc/artist

A bit about me

I'm originally from Toronto, Canada, and have been living in England since 1996. I spent several years in London and am now based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, which is 35km north of London.

I've played in several bands over the years, playing guitar or bass, and am now concentrating on songwriting. I work in a little pre-production setup I have at home, which consists mainly of a PC, a mini mixing desk and a Rode-NT1 mic. My software of choice is...Sonar. Yay Sonar!
